Freshwater Mussel Surveys & Relocation
Freshwater mussels are some of the most sensitive — and overlooked — indicators of water quality. At Lupine Land Services, we provide scientific diving support specifically for freshwater mussel surveys and relocations in rivers, streams, and spring-fed systems.
Our work is focused, careful, and compliance-driven, helping projects move forward while protecting these important species and the waterways they depend on.
What We Do
Freshwater Mussel Surveys
We conduct in-water surveys to locate, identify, and document freshwater mussels in wadeable and dive-required systems. Surveys are performed to support baseline assessments, impact evaluations, and project planning.
Mussel Relocation Support
When avoidance isn’t possible, we assist with the careful relocation of freshwater mussels following approved protocols. This includes collection, temporary holding, and placement in suitable habitat as required by project permits.
Pre-Construction & Impact Assessments
Scientific diving allows us to assess mussel presence in areas that can’t be fully evaluated from the surface, reducing uncertainty and helping inform design and permitting decisions early.
How We Work
- Targeted, methodical dive plans
- Species-focused search methods
- Emphasis on minimizing stress and disturbance
- Close coordination with project partners and permitting requirements
Our role is to support conservation goals while keeping projects on track.
Who This Is For
- Environmental consultants
- Conservation organizations
- Public agencies & municipalities
- Landowners with permitted in-water work
Let’s Talk About Your Project
